What can be done about it?
Colchester Businesses work together with the Borough Council and other organisations to find solutions to the problem and share best practice with each other in the Colchester Waste Minimisation Club.
What is the Waste Minimisation Club?
A local club run by business for business to help reduce waste, improve profits and reduce environmental impact by identifying ways to:
cut down waste
save energy
make better use of transport
improve purchasing practices
tackle supply pressures

What Does it cost?
In financial terms no cost at all. We give you the opportunity to attend the breakfast meetings held times a year. These give an opportunity to share best practice with other businesses in a convivial atmosphere.
What does the club do?
The club aims to help you:
obtain access to help and specialist knowledge
identify key areas of expense
think up ideas for cost savings/plan action/check progress
publicise your achievements
In business terms waste is lost profit. This club holds quarterly meetings for businesses to get together and share good practice, listen to guest speakers and receive helpful newsletters - among other things.
What happens at the meetings?
The meetings are
structured in response to members needs. Topics covered up to now
include:-
Dealing with waste paper.
Problems of Plastics.
How to conduct a survey of waste.
Who provides the expertise?
Sometimes this is in house. Speakers may be drawn from environmental consultants, council recycling officers, outside organisations and businesses providing waste services.

We provide access to professional advice and government packages. We may even provide you with a full waste audit designed to save you money carried out by a fully qualified consultant.
